Inspiring II

This is one of the most potent and challenging cartoons I have seen in a long time.*

*I can't remember where I got this from, so in the unlikely event the cartoonist sees this, let me know so I can link it properly!

Well, its about fear. Its about how our leaders play on our fears about being attacked to justify their actions. And in the US particularly, anyone who voices opposition to the war on Iraq is denounced as unpatriotic and 'helping' the enemy.

The irony in the quote comes when you know who who said it.

Hermann Goering a high ranking member of the Nazi Party and was one of Hitler's right hand men.

Yeah, the scared overweight guy being influenced way too much by what he sees on TV is definitely American... It could only get better if there were another person there reading some bogus chain e-mail about fuel prices going down soon because of this or that.

People think that if we bring our (US) troops home, disasters like 9/11 will happen all the time. They think "the enemy" won't be afraid anymore and will terrorize us even more. That is how everyone is made to feel. I don't feel that way, and my understanding of Middle Eastern politics is only about as foggy as that of the people who do.
